I meant to write weeks ago and then the weeks did what they always do.
The flat is finally warm. I found a second-hand desk at the market on Sunday — oak, a bit scarred, far too heavy for one person, which I discovered halfway up the stairs. It sits under the window now and I have written more in four days at it than in the month before.
Work is steadier than it was. I stopped saying yes to everything, which turns out to be the whole trick.
I keep meaning to ask about Grandad's letters. Are they still in the blue tin?
I will ring on Sunday. Give the dog an undeserved biscuit from me.
