Tuesday, 14 March

Woke before the alarm for the first time in months and did not immediately reach for the phone. Small thing. Felt enormous.

Walked to the far end of the harbour where the boats are still hauled out for winter. Two men were scraping a hull and arguing cheerfully about football. The light came in low and hard off the water.

I have been treating rest as something to be earned. I am fairly sure that is backwards.

"Do not ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive."

Tomorrow: finish the third chapter, ring the dentist, buy bread.
